Sunday belongs to the Gaisberg. The Salomon Gaisberg Trail – Salzburg's classic trail race – covers 24.6 kilometres and 1,280 metres of elevation gain, taking runners onto the legendary trails surrounding the city's iconic local mountain. The course is an absolute highlight, both in terms of scenery and running experience, but it also presents a true challenge that demands everything from its participants.

Due to the new event venue at Hellbrunn, the traditional course will be run counter-clockwise for the first time. The race starts along Fürstenallee towards the Salzach River. After crossing the river via the Clemens Holzmeister Footbridge, the route continues to the Aigen Campsite, where the main climb begins. Athletes face an ascent of 815 vertical metres all the way to the Gaisberg summit.

Shortly after the aid station at the top, the course turns downhill towards Gersbergalm, continuing via Kühberg to Gnigl. Before reaching Salzburg's historic centre, runners must conquer one final major challenge: the climb over Kapuzinerberg. Following the last aid station at Kapitelplatz, the course heads through Nonntal and along the iconic Hellbrunn Avenue, where a flat final section leads to the finish line in the magnificent grounds of Hellbrunn Palace.
